The A-4 Skyhawk is a jet attack aircraft designed by Douglas to replace the US Navy's A-1 Skystrider. Douglas minimized its size, weight, and complexity. As a result, the weight of the aircraft was only half of the naval design requirements. Its wings are short and compact and can be easily parked on an aircraft carrier without folding.
