American F-106A "Triangular Javelin" Interceptor.
The Convair F-106 "Triangular Javelin" interceptor is considered to be one of the best interceptors in the history of the US Air Force. It has been in service with the US Air Force from the 1960s to the 1980s. In more than 29 years of service, it has been the main all-weather interceptor of the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Air National Guard, and the main "dancing partner" of the Russian Tu-95 "Bear" strategic bomber.
The F-106 "Triangular Javelin" is developed from the Convair F-102 "Triangular Dagger" series of interceptors. Its Pratt & Whitney J-75-P-17 engine provides it with more powerful power. , So that it can reach a maximum speed of Mach 2. The new larger engine also means an increase in the size of the aircraft. The bomb bay under the belly can accommodate 4 AIM-4 "Falcon" air-to-air missiles and an AIR-2 rocket. The F-106 prototype flew for the first time on December 26, 1956, and entered service in June 1959. A total of 277 single-seat A models have been built.
