AN/AAQ-33 Sniper Targeting Pod
AN/AAQ-33 is modeled in detail with 3D modeling and 3D printing. The shape of the pylon for the F-2 is also accurately reproduced.
*The pylon is shaped to correspond to #RafAvi's F-2A intake (4827, 4828).
*A template for drilling holes for mounting is included.
*Some adjustments will be required when installing it in the Hasegawa 1/48 F-2
The camera mounting part at the tip can be rotated to face the target. The kit can be assembled at any angle as a separate part. The camera lens and glass surface are separate parts made of clear resin.
*Because it is 3D printed with clear resin, it is not completely transparent in the kit state.
*A template is included so that the three glass surfaces can be replaced with 0.3mm thick clear plastic sheets.
What is AN/AAQ-33?
The AN/AAQ-33 is a targeting pod made in the United States that can be used to aid navigation and detect targets in bad weather and at night using optical sensors, and can also emit lasers to guide laser-guided bombs. The Japan Air Self-Defense Force has adopted it for the F-2, and it is mounted on the right side of the intake via a dedicated pylon that is different from the F-16. It is currently installed on the 540th aircraft and operational tests are underway.
