B-24 Liberator “Tubarao” Assembly Ship Insignia Paint mask set for the HobbyBoss kit

The set includes two sheets of pre-cut masks (shown in the picture). The masks are made from thin masking tape, which is easy to be peeled off and doesn’t leave any stains. The tape is tested on clear and painted model too. If carefully removed after painting, they can be used over and over again. It is flexible and easily applied over curved surfaces. Semi-transparent for easy and accurate placing.

Assembly Ship B-24 Liberators

paint mask set is designed to be used with quarter scale B-24J kits and is based on HobbyBoss tooling, more specifically kit #81774. The mask set is dedicated to one of the many Assembly Ship aircraft, used during Second World War to gather formations of many similar Liberators and send them on their deadly mission. Assembly ships were also called Judas Goats, after the goats who led the rest of the herd to the slaughter house. Besides that, these planes were also called Formation ships, probably more delicate name for the job. Usually old and/or damaged planes were used for the purpose, always painted in bright colors, with stripes, circles and similar art forms, in order to attract the attention of the aircraft’s group easily. Some of those featured extra lights as well.

Tubarao

is an Assembly Ship from 491st BG. The word “Tubarao” means “Shark” in Portuguese. The plane was Consolidated B-24J-145-CO Liberator, with serial #44-40101 and therefore, this DN Models’ mask set is best suitable for J-model of the aircraft. Alongside with this set represented here, DN Models line of masks offers other variations of Assembly ships, like Consolidated B-24D First Sergeant & B-24J Spotted Ass Ape in 48th scale. Those sets are also available in 32nd scale, which is dominated by HobbyBoss B-24D and B-24J toolings.
