Czech Frog Su-25 Frogfoot demo camouflage paint masks set
The set includes three sheets of masks (shown in the picture). The masks are made from thin masking tape, which is easy to be peeled off and doesn’t leave any stains. The tape is tested on clear and painted model too. If carefully removed after painting, they can be used over and over again. It is flexible and easily applied over curved surfaces. Semitransparent for easy and accurate placing.
Su-25 Frogfoot
is a Soviet-made ground support and attack aircraft. It was designed in the late 70s and entered service in the early 1980s. It is widely used and to this day is considered amongst the toughest aircraft of war. Su-25 is twin-engine, high wing, subsonic jet, capable of carrying up to 4 tons of weapons load. It is available both as single and dual-seat options. Double seat variant is used primarily for training. The plane was exported from the Soviet Union, with Czechoslovakia being the first Warsaw Pact country to receive the new warplane. In Soviet Union and later Russia, this jet is know by the name “Rook”. In NATO, the codename of the Su-25 is “Frogfoot”.
Czech Frog
was a demo camouflage applied on a Su-25K in Czechoslovakia, later on transferred to the Czech Republic. The plane was painted in primer gray, with some yellow in the front section. That included the nose, the wings and the nacelles. Additionally, spots of different colors are spread over the airplane, mostly on its nose, but also covering the upper surfaces of the fighter-bomber. There is a frog holding a tank & a hammer depicted on the vertical stabilizer. This Su-25 was with bort number 9013 – S/N 25508109013 – and during the 90s was famous participant in most major European Air Shows. Throughout the years, the camo scheme started to deteriorate, mostly due to the way it was painted – using wholesale paints meant to be used for general purposes. That provides even more options for presenting the finished model, either as a brand new or highly worn in appearance.
DN Models
mask set is designed using Zvezda #4807. The set features masks for the spots and none of the insignia or the tail art is included. Latter ones should be applied using aftermarket decals due to limitations of the paint masks. This DN Models’ mask set can be used with any tooling of the Su-25 Frogfoot and due to spots’ relative randomness does not require specific model to fit accurately. Good guidance for the paint scheme and suggested paints is available in the Eduard’s Limited Edition kit #11176 “Hrabe”, a re-pack of Zvezda 1/48 tooling. Eduard kit features full set of decals needed for the completion of this Czech Frog demo scheme as well.
