What is the "Wild Weasel"? A special aircraft whose main mission is to suppress enemy air defense networks.

The Wild Weasel IV is a successor to the F-105G, a modified F-4C designed specifically for SEAD (Suppression of Enemy Air Defense) missions. Its main mission is to use various sensors such as the AN/APR-25, -26 and ER-142 to locate enemy SAM (surface-to-air missile) site tracking/guidance radars or radar waves emitted from radar sites and their location, and then attack them with anti-radar missiles such as the AGM-45.It is nicknamed "Wild Weasel" because it resembles a weasel crawling on the ground in search of prey. The F-4C Wild Weasel IV, which built the foundation for modern SEAD missions, has been thoroughly reproduced down to its exact exterior shape and even the fine details, such as the added special antenna. You can enjoy comparing each type as you assemble it.

What is the flight control system of the F-4C Wild Weasel IV, which performs dangerous missions such as suppressing enemy air defense networks?

The F-4C Wild Weasel IV is similar to the C/D model in that it can also be piloted by the WSO (Weapons Systems Officer) in the rear seat. The dual-pilot system not only increased the aircraft's survivability, but also made the work of the WSO in the rear seat very important in carrying out SEAD missions, which were difficult for single-seat aircraft. The mission of detecting enemy radar waves, finding their location, and using the aircraft as a decoy to approach and attack enemy missile sites was not only complex, but also extremely dangerous and difficult. Also pay attention to the reproduction of the instrument panel and console in the rear seat, which have been modified for SEAD missions.

What is the unique armament of the Wild Weasel that is required for the mission of suppressing enemy air defense networks?

The F-4C had no fixed armament, and its main weapons were air-to-air missiles such as the AIM-7 Sparrow and AIM-9 Sidewinder. In addition to these air-to-air missiles, the F-4C Wild Weasel IV was equipped with the AGM-45 Shrike, an anti-radar missile designed specifically to attack enemy radar sites. The AGM-45 was America's first anti-radar missile, mass-produced starting in 1963, and uses the AIM-7 warhead. As it was an early missile, it had various problems, but by 1981, approximately 19,000 had been produced. The pylon designed specifically for the AGM-45 was the LAU-118/A, and SWS also accurately recreates the pylon Parts.
