F-4E AUP Phantom II Hellenic Air Force camouflage paint masks set for the Zoukei-Mura/Meng/Hasegawa kit
Re-usable die-cut paint masks
The set includes four sheets of pre-cut masks (shown in the picture). The masks are made from thin masking tape, which is easy to be peeled off and doesn’t leave any stains. The tape is tested on clear and painted model too. If carefully removed after painting, they can be used over and over again. It is flexible and easily applied over curved surfaces. Semi-transparent for easy and accurate placing.
Hellenic F-4
deliveries started in 1974. In the 1990s, there were additional second-hand Phantoms added in service. Slowly, but surely becoming obsolete, Phantom was re-evaluated and a decision for a deep upgrade was made in the second half of the 90s. Collaboration between Hellenic Aerospace Industries and DASA /German Aerospace Industry/ was negotiated, which included new radar, new mission control computer, upgraded head up display as well as serious widening of the weapons carrying capabilities of the F-4E Phantom. This venture was known under the name Peace Icarus 2000 and initiially the Phantoms were known as F-4PI2000. However, later they became known under the F-4E AUP name. HAF is the sole operator of the variant.
F-4E AUP
is in service with Hellenic Air Force for more than 20 years. Gradually being retired, in the early 20s of the 21st century, the plane is still in use at Andravida Air base, flying various multi-role missions. HAF F-4E AUP Phantoms wear specific blue-grey-ish camouflage, similar to the one that HAF F-16s feature. The climate and the salt of the sea areas create memorable appearance. Phantoms in HAF /as well as F-16/ look very worn, with hardly recognizable colors, which creates superb canvas for both aircraft and ship weathering techniques optionable when modeling. This DN Models camouflage mask set features roundels and the rectangle flag of the HAF insignia.
