IJN Carrier Fighter Mitsubishi A5M4 "Claude" Model 4
The Type 96 Carrier-Based Fighter was an all-metal low-wing monoplane that was first officially adopted by the Imperial Japanese Navy, and the first carrier-based fighter of its type in the world. The final and most widely produced model was the Type 4, which joined the front lines from the Second Sino-Japanese War and was still installed on some aircraft carriers at the start of the Pacific War. This model faithfully reproduces the elegant form that Jiro Horikoshi took over from the Type 9 Experimental Single-Seat Fighter and led to his next work, the Zero Fighter, as well as the flaps that were first used on a domestically produced practical aircraft.
