Imperial Japanese Night Fighter Kugisho D4Y2-S Judy

The Suisei, a carrier bomber developed as a successor to the Type 99, was converted into a night fighter, taking advantage of the maneuverability, sturdy structure, and high speed that are unique to carrier bombers. It was equipped with a 20mm machine gun facing diagonally upwards inside the rear windshield, with the main purpose of intercepting bombers at night. It was officially adopted in 1944, and it is said that more than 100 Type 12s were modified, and they fought hard to intercept B-29s until the end of the war.
