Mi-24A Hind B Canopy, windows & wheels paint mask set for the Trumpeter kit

The set includes two sheets of masks (shown in the picture). The masks are made from thin masking tape, which is easy to be peeled off and doesn’t leave any stains. The tape is tested on clear and painted model too. If carefully removed after painting, they can be used over and over again. It is flexible and easily applied over curved surfaces. Semitransparent for easy and accurate placing.

Mi-24A

Hind-B was the second production variant of the attack helicopter. It entered service with the Soviet Air Force in 1972. It has the typical early Hind canopy, which differs significantly than the later Mi-24 series. It also lacks the cannon under the nose, which later became one of the prominent features of the Hind helicopters. Due to many considerations, the canopy was changed in very short time. In 1973, the first production Mi-24D started to enter service, and it was with both – the separate cockpit and the gun, both vital for the purpose of an attack helo. Interestingly enough, in the mid- and late- 80s, Mi-24A became more recognizable to the masses thanx to Rambo III movie, in which it allegedly stars as a Soviet aircraft. However, that was actually modified SA330 Puma, which wasn’t supposed to copy an early Hind, but the end result was exactly that. Later on, with the fall of the Soviet Union, Mi-24 was introduced to the public in the West and today even private helicopters are being flown.

Mil Mi-24 Canopy

is the most prominent difference that defines the initial variants. Trumpeter kit is among the very few that represents an early Hind in 48th scale. The reasons are many, but it is mostly aesthetical perspective that makes this option not as popular as the late birds. This mask set is designed to substitute the masks included in kit #05828 from Trumpeter. It corrects the masks included in the set and provides more options to the modeler, mostly due to the added accuracy and inherited flexibility of the medium.
