camouflage is one of the most attractive Tornado camouflages ever applied, excluding some anniversary and demo paint schemes. Royal Saudi Arabia Air Force /RSAF/ used two versions of the Panavia Tornado. The ones used for low level interdiction /IDS variant/ were painted in desert colors, with pleasant warm tones and balanced color separation. They are in service with RSAF since the late 80s. Tornado proved equal if not superior to F-15S /F-15E Strike Eagle/ at low level, latter used widely in Saudi Air Force since the 90s. Therefore Saudi Tornadoes are still in use as of this day, with as well as 80 aircraft still in active service and will probably remain in use for few more years, even with the upcoming F-15SA /upgraded F-15E/ order.
applied on the Royal Saudi Arabia Air Force IDS Tornadoes vary slightly from aircraft to aircraft. It follows similar pattern and it is a hard-edge color bounded. Back when first introduced, it featured idea close to the Italian green/gray camouflage scheme applied on Aeria Militare Tornado jets. However, RSAF camouflage scheme is three-tone and quite vivid and represents uniqueness of some kind, especially compared with other Tornado operators. With the advance of time, many Air Forces changed their camouflage schemes for dark or medium-gray applications, with very few keeping the original appearance typical for the old-school idea of camouflage. However, Saudi Air Force kept some of their Panavia Tornados as they were, which makes them easily recognizable and memorable jets.
